Impactful4.5

This one hit. Right from the jump, I could tell you were working on a higher level. This is tight, confident filmmaking that trusts its audience and never wastes a moment. I was impressed. Some of the shots were so impressive they had me wondering how they were accomplished. Shots of helicopters flying over a cityscape, for example. Was this stock footage? If so, it was integrated perfectly and gave the film a sense of scale. What really got me, though, was the storytelling. You used editing and visual effects as tools — not crutches — and that’s what separates good from great. There’s no clunky exposition, just smooth world-building told through action and image. That’s great cinematic storytelling. The concept pulls you in, but it’s the warmth and surprise in the execution that makes it stick. You gave us heart, not just concept. The performances worked, too. Grounded, real, and right in sync with the tone. Combine that with a convincing visual style and an ambitious, relevant premise, and it’s no wonder it all came together so clean. You set up a world, pulled off a story arc, and landed an emotional payoff — all in five minutes.

A Smart, Moving Sci-Fi with Style and Substance4.6

Terrific work overall — this is a standout short that blends sharp storytelling with impressive visual execution. From the start, it’s clear this is a high-level piece, with strong command of both craft and emotion. The cinematography could’ve been a little less harsh at times, but that’s a minor note. The shot composition, editing choices, and VFX are top-notch. I was especially impressed by how seamlessly the visual effects were integrated — not just for spectacle, but as a storytelling tool. They help explain the world in an elegant, efficient way, without relying on clunky exposition. That’s a real skill. The editing is a highlight — tight, purposeful, and expressive. It’s a perfect example of how story can be told through rhythm and visual flow, rather than words alone. Even more impressive: I found myself emotionally drawn into the story. It takes a clever, sci-fi premise and develops it in unexpectedly sweet and grounded ways. The performances are strong, and the visuals feel convincing throughout. You manage to set up and pay off a lot in just five minutes — and do it with clarity and heart. This is ambitious, moving, and relevant — a truly impressive short. Bravo!

Containment3.4

Fun little Sci-fi short. The Shots are composed well, lighting has some underexposed areas from the single light source. Adding some soft, minor back lighting will help bring out the subjects from the dark. Audio. Good use of CGI for the news scene. I feel like the ISO is cranked up in the camera to counter for the low light as well, since I'm seeing graininess throughout the short.

Great story and well produced. The cinematography looked like the cinematography from E.T. I am impressed with this.
